a couple weeks ago shaun and i were just about asleep when dear, sweet charlie came meowing in our room and jumped up on our bed and started playing. normally he doesn't meow much at night so i assumed he had one of the girls hair holders and was playing with it on our bed.
i figured i would just feel around in the dark for it and just hide it under my pillow so he would quit flopping and jumping all over our bed. as i felt around i touched something that definitely was not a hair holder.
i quickly told shaun "i have to turn on the light right now!"
i flung my covers back and turned the light on and looked around and then pulled the covers back up to reveal charlie's prize: a good sized mouse. alive. and running all over our bed. and pooping on our bed.
things quickly escalated as me, shaun and charlie were all in hot pursuit of the mouse. all three of us chased it all over our bedroom until it ended up under our bed.
shaun positioned himself on all fours on top of the bed hanging over the side to look under the bed for our new friend and i was on the other side on the floor looking under the bed (very bravely i might add). at one point we thought the mouse was back on the bed when shaun nearly jumped 10 feet off the bed when the covers brushed against his foot. but it was just a false alarm. after a few minutes the mouse was nowhere to be found so we just went back to sleep (somehow).
fast forward a week later:
3:30 a.m. charlie is back on the bed meowing and being playful.
shaun and i both immediately shot out of bed and fumbled for the lights.
charlie had found his friend again!
this time his little friend wasn't quite as lively as the last time he visited our bed. he was alive but getting his little mouse blood all over our bed.
mouse. blood. on. my. bed. at 3:30 a.m.
this time our little mouse friend wasn't getting away. i grabbed it by the tail (very bravely again, i might add) and tossed him out into the back yard.
good times at the spencer house. if it's not one of the three girls waking us in the middle of the night, it's a mouse in our bed.
come visit us! (i'll even give you my bed.)
I am SO glad I did not know about the mouse when I was there. Probably would not have slept .....waiting for the mouse!
