halloween 2010: reduce, reuse, recycle

so unlike last year and years past, this year we kind of flopped on halloween. shaun and i dressed as two tired parents (lily hasn't been sleeping too well lately) and put the girls in costumes, went over to our friends house from church and went trick or treating with them.

i guess you could say our theme was reduce, reuse, recycle.

reduce: shaun and i didn't wear costumes
reuse: eva carried a reusable shopping bag to collect her candy
recycle: lily wore eva's old chicken costume from several years ago, that is way too big for her

i like to think that we are being an environmentally friendly family. yeah, that sounds nice.

we had a great time and got lots of "good" candy. you know, all the good name brand stuff! yummy.

so here are the costumes. at first i was going to dress eva as a pirate monkey. but as you can see from the picture that didn't work out too well.

it looked really clever in my head.

work with me people.

then we just went with the regular pirate theme.

here is a group pic minus lily. these are the cutest girls! especially baby cordelia on the far left. she is so adorable!!!

here is one with lily. she was ready to go collect candy. she did great and loved every minute of it. especially when i gave her a sucker.

my baby chick. :)

eva would go up to a door and say "i'm a pirate! arrrggghh!" then after she got her candy she would walk off and say "trick or treat thank you!" (notice reusable bag hanging on hook hand)
