lily has been sick so i finally decided to take her to the doctor. (she has some sort of bronchitis thing and her first ear infection.) while i was gone shaun kept eva so we didn't have to expose her to the germy waiting room at the doctor's office where she would inevitably touch everything.
anyway, shaun got eva's big bike (you know, the one he likes to ride) out so they could take a ride. eva has had this bike for quite a while, maybe nearly 2 years. but she has refused to ride it because she is scared so she turns to her little red trike and rides it everywhere. shaun told her we would be putting the red away in the attic because she needs to learn to ride her big bike.
so during their outing, eva is cruising through the neighborhood with shaun fast on her heels when the inevitable, unthinkable, tragedy of all tragedies occurred: eva bit the dust.
heading toward a curb, the inexperienced eva could not steer away fast enough and she fell over. shaun, being the good, kind, loving, and gracious father he is made her get right back on that thing. oh, and let the record show that shaun he did hold her and console her first.
as you can imagine, things did not go well on the way home. there was crying, whining, and then more crying. and then some whimpering. followed by more crying and whining.
and once finally home, there was limping. and stooping. and hobbling. and staggering. and faltering. and lagging. and shuffling. and straggling. and a general wailing and gnashing of teeth.
and whining. did i mention there was whining. lots and lots of whining.
eva is a
mel-o-dra-ma-tic!
i wish i had video of how she hobbled around all hunched over, toes curled, limping through the house. whining.
oh, her injuries you ask? a scratched right knee, slightly bruised. now covered by a curious george band-aid. life threatening.
what's crazy is thinking that there are children in haiti who had legs amputated without anesthesia and a leg scratch is the drama in this house.
she is still limping today and talks about the knee a lot. tomorrow we will probably get back on that bike again. and hold our breath and pray that she never, EVER falls again. amen. and everybody says, AMEN.
now here is the rare occurrence that maybe has something to do with the aformentioned occurrence. eva fell asleep on the couch. my girls NEVER fall asleep anywhere but their beds, during their designated sleep times. never, ever. they do not sleep in the car, not in a box, not with a fox, not in a house not with a mouse. they will not do it sam-i-am.
i was quite shocked to see this.
the rest of my day was filled with eva whining about her leg abrasion and lily crying because she didn't feel well.
and i was covered in snot and slobber.
the end.
You hard hearted mom you! She needed her Aunt Ne-Ne there! I remember to this day my first fall from a bike... actually I remember my last one, or two. Yikes, lets hope she takes after Shaun's side of the family. Keep that helmet on! And tell her Aunt Ne-Ne loves her.
ReplyDeleteShe needs her mi-mi to kiss her boo-boo. That ne-ne above is a wimp!!! Actually her wipe out on her recent bike ride was not a good one. We need Aunt Ne-Ne
ReplyDeletearound.
I am ROFL! That is the funniest account of poor Eva's bike ride.
ReplyDeletePoor thing that she fell, but your description is hilarious. She looks brave to me!!
