just to be clear, our anniversary is may 18. a few weeks ago, somehow shaun and i started talking about our anniversary and how we didn't really celebrate the last 2 years (okay, really i was complaining, and pointed the finger at shaun, because after all, it's the MAN'S responsibility- this is not up for debate.) i mean think about it, 2 years ago on our anniversary he graduated from seminary, last year we were moving into our house! we said we would celebrate not long after and then never did. after a little light-hearted teasing from some friends whose anniversary is also in may and who just celebrated last month, we decided to celebrate last week while eva was at gramps and gramma's for the week. so last tuesday shaun said to be ready at 5. when he pulled up in the driveway he honked the horn and i came out and he was driving this totally awesome car he borrowed from a friend, a cutlass something or other. it was a ton of fun. we went out to eat, went to books-a-million for a hot drink and to read magazines and then went to the grocery store. aren't we romantic? actually going out to eat and sitting at a bookstore are things we love to do- especially without eva! anyway, i guess you could say that we celebrated our anniversary all week without eva, because we went out to dinner every night! don't know where the money came from. sadly we had to return the car. i wish it would have been an anniversary gift to me, maybe next year (hint, hint shaun).
also, a funny side story. shaun's not much of a car conesseur, as one might say. when we got in the car i asked him what year it was. he didn't know. i told him that someone is going to ask and we are going to look dumb for not knowing. well, when we pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant some man and his family were across the lot and the man yelled out "68?" with that knowing look that is exchanged from man to man about cars. shaun was caught off guard and pulled off that manly slight knowing head nod that silently says, you bet buddy! then turned to me and we laughed our heads off because shaun didn't have a clue what year the car was. thankfully the insurance info was in the glove box and it was confirmed that we were in fact not in a 68 but actually a 72. who knew? well, i know of two men who don't know as much about cars as they thought, or in shaun's cased, acted like they thought they knew! anyway, it was funny. shaun was going to fess up, but we never saw the man in the restaurant.
here is my hot date in the hot car:

loved reading this. we're just as romantic as you guys. seriously. my sister came over the other night to let us go out for a little bit and we ended up at target. but, we didn't go in a '72 cutlass something or other. that would make going to the drycleaners cool.
