the t.v. is still gone
we have officially survived 4 days without a t.v. i must say it has been so refreshing and enjoyable. i have always wondered what they did in the prairie days when they didn't have t.v. and now i know! they listened to tons of great music on their ipod's and read books, and went to the mall, colored with markers, rode bikes, played with play-doh, and blogged like there was no tomorrow. next i will have to work on my computer addiction, but one thing at a time! anyway, eva has asked to watch cartoons only 2 times. i just say "where is the t.v.? it's gone!" and she just turns around and starts playing! this morning she got up and instead of asking to watch cartoons she asked to listen to music!! yeah!!! we have been reading more books and listening to our long lost music collection. right now we are listening to our recent purchase "they might be giants" and if you have a 2 year-old (or any aged child, or a spouse that acts like a child or if you know a child) you would enjoy this cd. any other recommendations for good (kids) music? i'd like to know what you like. we are also reconnecting to all of our awesome counting crows albums (and will be purchasing their new album soon!). anyway, life is good without the t.v. i never knew i could do it but so far so good! and here is a random picture of eva since i guess this blog is supposed to be about her, but i can do whatever i want!

Is it their Flood album? That's a great CD. Abby showed me your post. Way to go!

I found your blog through the Hathaways and have to say congrats for doing away with the tv! We just did the same thing when we started seminary and haven't looked back (by the way ours is in the closet too and does get pulled out on occasion!).
ReplyDeleteGood kid-friendly cd's: I Am Sam soundtrack (Beatles songs remade by modern artists), Sleepless in Seattle/You've Got Mail soundtracks, Coldplay, Postal Service
Hi Danielle - it's lindsey schubert! missy introduced me to your blog when she told me I had to see what you had done (got rid of your tv). maybe i'm becoming an official checker-of-your-blog? anyway, the Curious George soundtrack is great for kids, as it's a kids' movie, and great for adults b/c they're all Jack Johnson songs! good luck and have fun with the music search!
