sour cream
so eva is pretty particular. she wants things a certain way. for example, at nap time she will stand in her bed and point to all the things she wants off and on: light off (check), sound machine on (check), heater on (check), wipe nose (check). she also gets unhappy when i change her sheet and it looks different. yesterday i put a new sheet on her bed and she kept saying "no sheet!, no dis (this)". i told her too bad, go to sleep (in a completely loving tone of course!). another example is when her sippy cup was on her bookshelf and i gave her a drink before bed and then i set her drink on her changing table and started to walk out the room. she started telling me something in a whiny voice that i couldn't understand and i finally figured out that she didn't want her drink on her changing table, she wanted it on her bookshelf! also, she likes to wear the same knit pants at nap time, always have to put them on, don't even think about putting her down in her jeans! and don't even think about putting anything in her bed with her except her kitty cat, all extra items will be immediately banished from the bed. i often complain of her obsessive compulsiveness and then shaun gently reminds me that "we" are all that way (meaning i have the same exact complex- the bed has to be perfect, the blanket i cover myself with on the couch has to be facing a certain way, etc.) wow, she is a lot like me, in some not so good ways! okay, i'm getting off track and forgot the point of this post. i remember, so the title of the blog post is sour cream. this whole long story was to tell about another one of eva's pickinesseseses. lately when we change her diaper she keeps saying "sour cream, booty". we finally figured out that she wants us to put diaper cream on her bottom. that's what she calls it, sour cream. she clearly hasn't tasted it yet. so i leave you with a completely unrelated picture and comment: come see us in aiken and we will drive you down this gorgeous street canvased by live oaks!

i love hearing these little stories about her. -such a personality!! i wish i could witness it in person. :) little parker takes the diaper cream and pretends to put in on himself, but when it's really time for me to put it on him, you would think i was killing the child!

As apposed to dead oaks?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, really glad to hear this story as I was seriously beginning to worry that Olyvia had OCD. She is also VERY freaking picky about her bed. She needs her bunny and her doggy in there, one UNDER each arm and then needs to be covered up using two pink blankets. After covering her, you then have to tuck her in, mummy like, being sure to lift up her legs and get the blanket under her. I swear to God, when she first started this routine, we were all about ready to kill her! You'd think you had it, start to tip toe out of the room, when she'd call you back in because doggy was facing the wrong way (seriously)!
I'm sure Mimi and I could tell stories about Mommy and Daddy and how pickey they were when they were little. Hang in there Eva!
