birthday week

this week has been a lot of fun with a stretched out celebration for my 30th birthday. last tuesday my mom flew to aiken to surprise me at my surprise birthday party that was given to me by julie and a bunch of wonderful women from our church. when i arrived everyone jumped out to surprise me and then while we stood in a circle to pray for the meal my mom stepped into the circle. when i opened my eyes she was there! it was so much fun and the party was wonderful- beautiful flowers, balloons, card, generous gift, delicious food, and my favorite strawberry cake made by my mommy!

then a few days later gramps, gramma, and cousin ian came to celebrate with us. we had fun eating and shopping together. after they left shaun watched eva on saturday so my mom and i could go shopping without eva. and then yesterday, on my birthday we went out for dinner.

of course the challenging parts of the past week have been shaun being sick with bronchitis, eva having a bad cold too (spent part of my birthday at the doctor with her) and eva's very bad attitude. i guess life doesn't stop for a birthday! but it was so good to have my mom here. she got me a beautiful cross necklace with a little diamond in the middle (such a special gift- i love it!) and shaun got me a beautiful pot of pansy flowers for our porch- exactly what i wanted. it was a great day!

this is how eva truly acted towards her mimi all week. very nasty. every question eva was asked was quickly answered with a "NO!" and then she would rethink her answer to make sure it hadn't required a "yes."

somehow we got eva to stand by mimi and smile. this was a rare moment for the week. if you are wondering why there aren't any pics of shaun, there was just one and let's just say he has been under the weather and it is not his cutest picture ever. he wouldn't appreciate it, although you would enjoy it!
