thankfully the spencer tradition of dressing up on halloween was able to continue this year without us looking like total fools (okay, that is questionable). i say that because we probably would have worn costumes to church tonight whether there was a party or not. for some reason i love thinking up costumes and dressing up! our church has a "reformation celebration" so we dressed for the occasion as a "16th century dinner"- a chicken, carrot, and peas. we bought eva's costume and made ours as we do every year. unfortunately eva and i had to go home early and leave our carrot by himself. eva was sick yesterday and not quite over it today. so she threw what has to be her biggest fit yet, starting at church and ending a good 40 minutes later at home. ahhh, the joys of toddlers, and the joy of eva! amazingly we were able to get a family picture before we left and eva paused her fit just long enough. we definitely missed dressing up with the covenant presbyterian youth group in st. louis and our atherton friends! 16th century dinner carrot cannibalism our little chicken eva wearing her new halloween shirt from nanny, papa, jessie, & caitlin
yes, well done on the costumes! we miss you too! our dress up party is next week, i am thinking "SUPERFAN", and wearing ALL of my fan stuff at once, for all sports....we'll see! xoxo, aj
I love the pic of Sean all dressed up and then everyone else in the background is not! Question:How do you get your husband to go along with this? I love it! Love the costumes.
you're so creative! eva looks adorable (and of course you and shaun too!) okay, i'm going to have to put up pics of our costumes soon too, and you're going to laugh and how horrible mine was!! great idea, but bad follow through... :)
I'd just like to say that not only did I go along with it (it didn't take much arm twisting) but I got to pray the "official pastoral blessing" for the event, lead the congregation in "A Mighty Fortess" and then proceed to sing the "Reformation Polka" all dressed up as a carrot. I'm just glad the Presbytery approved me LAST week.
YES!!! I've been waiting for WEEKS to see what the Spencer family was going to be this year! I knew you would not disappoint! :) By the way, when you're done with your costumes each year, can you send them to us so we can copy you AND steal your creative work?! :) I also think its HILARIOUS that Shaun gave the prayer and sang "A mighty fortress" as a carrot! Danielle, I really hope you did not have to miss that part! :) Maybe Nick can give next year's prayer at OUR Fall Festival as a carrot! ~annie
